Since 1997, Marten Schönherr has been teaching and researching at the Technical University of Berlin in the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the Institute for Information Systems and Quantitative Methods, specializing in system analysis (under Prof. Dr. Hermann Krallmann). Marten Schönherr is the founder and head of the Competence Center for Enterprise Architecture, which is financed by industry. In addition to this, he has extensive experience of university administration, accrediting and unitizing study courses and has worked as both a consultant and organizer of academic conferences. Competence Center for Enterprise Architecture
The Competence Center for Enterprise Architecture (EA) at TU Berlin conducts research and provides teaching and consultancy. Its main emphases are on IT system-interoperability, architecture integration and management, standards, IT governance and service orientation. The team works together with companies as an independent facility to carry out research. Its aim is to set new standards in the field of EA and to professionally implement its findings together with its partner companies.

Marten Schönherr is a member of the faculty’s finance committee and is responsible for medium-term planning, changing from fiscal accounting to double-entry accounting and for negotiating the equipping of the departments.

System Analysis department, Institute for Information Systems and Quantitative Methods
• Third-party funding negotiations, concluding and managing contracts, research framework agreements,
departmental finances, procurement (authorized signatory), tendering and appointments procedure
• Public relations, Internet presence, alumni program, industrial relations, trade fair presence, international university cooperation,
application procedures for public research funding (successful applications to DFG, BMBF, Motorola Foundation)
• Organizing conferences
• Creating modules to adapt diploma courses to bachelor/master courses (credit points)
• Converting diploma courses to bachelor/master courses in the fields of IT and industrial engineering and management
• Requesting and supervising internal and external teaching posts
• Accrediting international bachelor’s/master’s courses, VGU (Virtual Global University), Master of Business Informatics, accreditation at FIBAA (2002 and re-accreditation in 2005) and designing an international ‘Global Industrial Engineering’ course of study in the context of founding a branch of TU Berlin on the Persian Gulf (ongoing project since the 2nd quarter of 2006)
