Marten Schönherr, Dr.-Ing., born 1970, trained initially as an electrical systems technician before starting his business administration studies at TU Berlin, which he completed in 1997. Extended stays in London and Barcelona led to wider horizons.
After working as a research associate at the Institute for Information Systems in the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at TU Berlin, and as a scientific editor for the journal Industrie Management, Marten Schönherr received his engineering doctorate in 2001.
From 1999 to 2006, he managed development and projects at altavier GmbH, a spin-off company set up by researchers from TU Berlin with Marten Schönherr as one of the founding partners. One of the main focuses of his work at altavier involved implementing and launching content and knowledge management systems.
Since 2001, Marten Schönherr has been working as a research assistant (comparable to assistant/associate professor) at the Institute of Information Systems and Quantitative Research (Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science/TU Berlin). Since 2002, he has headed the Competence Center for Enterprise Architecture/Externally Funded Research, which he founded at TU Berlin.
Teaching posts at various universities, a wide-ranging portfolio of publicly and industrially funded projects, as well as numerous publications and lectures have made Marten Schönherr a sought-after expert and contact for research and industry.
Marten Schönherr is married with two daughters.
